first_imgUMass football logo.Earlier this week, UMass officially hired former Georgia Tech senior associate director of athletics Ryan Bamford to become its new AD. It didn’t take long for Bamford to try to leverage his roots.Bamford, responding to a congratulatory message from Michael Strickland, the senior associate commissioner of football for the ACC, joked that he wanted to get UMass in as the 16th league member. Pretty smooth.@mgstrick @GeorgiaTechFB Thanks Michael! How about @UMassAthletics as the 16th #ACC member?!?— Ryan Bamford (@UMassADBamford) March 24, 2015No, this will never happen – both for competitive reasons and geographical reasons.
